NaNoWriMo Prep! (Tis the season)

StockSnap_VNQ7YNEDLD

So I know I’ve been a bit inactive on here lately. My schedule has gotten pretty cramped and then I got sick last weekend and-

Yeah, excuses. But I will have more articles coming this next week (if I can discipline myself, that is). Writing advice galore!

In the meantime, I’ve been preparing for NaNoWriMo, as should you if you plan to undertake the great writer’s challenge. I highly recommend you do so. It’s the best way I know to charge through a project and see it reach completion. Hopefully that’s what I’ll see next month.

If you’re curious, you can read about my novel(s) here, on my NaNo profile page.

(Then create your own! And add me as a writing buddy!)

Also, if you’re even more curious, check out my new Pinterest board! It’s my first stab at “aesthetics” for my book Blue 15 (you know… the one I keep moaning about because it’s taking so long). I had way too much fun pinning to this board today, but it really got my mind rolling and rekindled an excitement for the story I forgot I had. It’s easy to forget after 4 years of working on one project. Perhaps I’ll write about this next week? Hmm…

Anyway:

Click here to see the board!

All right, if I’m distracting you from your writing endeavors, then be distracted no more. Go forth and write. And check back here early next week for another article!

StockSnap_96DA9Q241I

It plays into writing more than you might think.

Writing is a delicate balance – as all authors surely know – and recognizing how your surroundings affect that balance can make the difference between quality writing and a wimpy attempt at a few sentences.

That being said, here are three ways that environment can affect your writing style, and how you, as a writer, can take advantage of that knowledge for writing improvement. Feel free to comment and tell us what your ideal writing environment is and how different settings in your life affect you.
